#256 - 004

Built in February 1997 - 5-string cedar top and maple sides. It was converted to a long neck in January 2007 for Larry Shirkey.

“I was fortunate to get one of EVD's original banjolas in 1997.  I played it for several years and decided to have Edward replace the standard neck with a "long neck" as in the 1958 Vega Pete Seeger banjo.  Now I play the world's first "long neck banjola", and it sounds spectacular, due to the string tension being less than that of a standard length instrument.  My banjola has a mellow, warm and woody sound, with plenty of sustain, it is simply a musical work of art!!!” Larry

Listen to Larry play this banjola:
